4 Glenpark Harriers headed south last weekend for the 37th Virgin Money London Marathon and it was success all round with all 4 achieving personal bests over the distance.
First back for the club was Mark Vance in what was his first sub 3 hour marathon. Mark also achieved the qualifying standard for next year’s race, said the atmosphere was electric and he was very happy with his PB.
Robert Dolan, running his 14th London Marathon, was next to finish broke the 3 hour mark for the 2nd time. Mark and Robert who had trained together for 16 weeks leading up to this, and despite being only 8 seconds apart at the finish, incredibly did not see each other at all during the race.
Kevin Gill ran a solid race only slowing slightly over the last 10k, to miss out on his sub 3.20 target.
Gordon Hepburn made a solid start but suffered stomach cramp from Mile 15 which hindered him badly, but to his credit he still managed to run a 7 minute PB.
