It was a fantastic turnout from Greenock Glenpark Harriers at the Great Scottish Run over the past weekend. Over 40 members ran in the 10k, half marathon or junior race, with some excellent performances throughout.

In the half marathon, Paul Monaghan was first Harrier home in an excellent time of 75.21 which continues his strong record in the event. Andrew White was next in 77 minutes dead. John Stevenson recorded a huge PB coming home in 82.26. George McCallum went under 90 mins for the first time and was closely followed by Stewart Anderson in a PB of 91.45. New members Craig Canning, Graeme Crawford and Gerry Gillespie also had strong runs sporting their club colours. Terri Wall was first female Harrier home in 1.47.46 closely followed by Donna Clark in 1.51.53. Eileen Stevenson ran a great PB of 2.03.42.

The 10k race saw an incredible turnout from Glenpark, with 23 runners taking part from the club. Steven Campbell was first home in 35.15 which saw him 2nd V40 for the race. Chris Mooney showed that he is close to full recovery with a strong run of 36.08. Chris Watson was cruelly denied a PB by 10 seconds running 37.22 for the 10 (and a bit) kilometres. Club Champion Marian Monk was first female home in 44.54, just outside her PB. One of the best runs was from Marianne McKay, who ran a great PB of 47.45.

The junior event was blessed with much better weather on the Saturday. The first junior round the 2.5k route was Harry McGill in 9.27 with Jude Dolan not far behind in 10.50.
