Hi Carol, yes there are places available – bring him along to one of the junior training sessions and we can get him started. Details of the training sessions are on the website: https://greenockglenparkharriers.com/this-weeks-training/
Junior training is usually 6pm at Notre Dame school on Tuesdays, 6pm at Ravenscraig track on Thursdays (although this is currently 5:30, I think due to a problem with floodlights), and Saturday at 11am at the Battery Park.

      Hi Brenda,
yes your son is welcome to come along to any of the junior training sessions, details of these can be found on the club website training page: https://greenockglenparkharriers.com/this-weeks-training/
The Tuesday at Notre Dame is the busiest training night so that would be the best time to start coming along, but any of the other times would be ok.
This page is updated every week (Note that times/venues may vary)

    Hi there ,
I have recently been looking into the history of my father John K Neave, a member of your club during the First World War. He is mentioned on your website history In 1915 when he won the 100 yards sprint in the Gala games in July 1915 an invitation event organised by the Harriers Club. You have the programme and report of the games on your website and he is mentioned as having won the fourth heat,semi-final and final.
He was presented with the trophy which I have today and wonder whether the committee would like the trophy as a piece of club history. His brothers were also very athletic and played for Arsenal football club in London in the 1920’s as a rare example of two brothers playing first team football in the same season for the club.
I wondered if you would be interested in this cup as the club really does have a proud history and it would be good to give back a little piece of it,
    Yours sincerely
    Mrs Sally Mack (nee:Neave)

Hello Sally, that would be amazing if you would do that. It is only very recent years, that we have started to acquire a lot of old memorabilia, as people have discovered the website, and we have put more and more information on it. And it would be great addition as we approach our 125th anniversary. Stevie McLoone Greenock Glenpark Harriers secretary. 145 Banff Road, Greenock. PA16 0ER

    Hi Stevie,

John Orr’s family have been in contact with me regarding his 60th Birthday bash which will be held in the Police Club 7:30pm on 27th May.
They have requested and offer an invite to his old runner pals, can you please inform Dick, Danny etc. I can’t remember who is still around when John was Captain of GGH late 70’s early 80s. I forgot to mention to Danny when I saw him.

    Cheers Kenny

Hi , In previous years your club has kindly allowed itinerant runners like myself to leave gear at your clubhouse during the Chisholm Mile .Would this be possible again on Tuesday ?

Hi Tony, I’m pretty certain that there will be people in the clubhouse before the race around 6.30pm and you will be able to change there. (normally I would be there for registration – but this year I will be doing all the registration down at the start) Worst comes to the worst you can always change at the Greenock Sports centre just 1 minute walk from our clubhouse on Nelson street. * I will leave a message to our members that you will be along.
