Scottish Vets Relays

There were several great performances at the Scottish Vets Relays at a windy Strathclyde Park on Saturday (6km).

Representing the Men’s (35+) team which won bronze were Neil Lafferty (21:07), Daniel Doherty (21:47), Andrew Osborne (21:21) and Andrew McCall. The Glenpark quartet managed to oust the really strong Cambuslang and Bellahouston teams to clinch the bronze medal. Andy McCall’s excellent  anchor leg of 20:47 put him in 12th male place overall.

The Men’s B team comprising David Thomson (26:11), Robin McAuslan (27:34), Chris Mooney (23:03) and Stephen Hanley (23:56) moved steadily up the field from 30th to 18th over the course of the race.  Chris had a cracker of a run, passing nine runners on the third leg. On the anchor leg, Stephen managed to overtake another three.

Our M50 team consisting of John Stevenson (25:10), Graham McGrattan (28:03), Micky Dunn (26:43) and Stephen Harrison (24:53) finished in 7th place, just behind Central AC and Victoria Park’s M50 teams. Stephen had an excellent anchor leg run, moving the team up 5 places.

The M50s B team consisting of Frank McMahon (31:03), Gerry Robertson (31:56) and Stuart Crawford (30:08 – Strava time) ran strongly. Stuart managed to beat his 5km PB in the process!

The Ladies A team including Jill Cox (22:38), Marianne McKay (29:34) and Jill Aikman (28:18) finished just outside the medals in 4th place, with Jill clocking the fastest female of the day. The team missed out on a bronze medal by just 40 seconds.

The B team comprising Eileen Stevenson (33:00), Nathalie Smith (31:27) and Sarah Whalen (33:23) moved steadily up through the field to finish a creditable 14th.

Finally, the C team consisting of Mary Robinson (40:27), Charlotte McKay (39:17) and Helen Crawford (31:52) finished 18th overall.

Well done to all of the runners across the 6 teams entered.
