Greenock Glenpark Harriers quality quartet of Juniors gained lifetime best performances at the recent Scottish Athletics Indoor league for junior athletes, held within the Emirates Indoor Arena in Glasgow.
Brothers Josh & Cody Deeghan represented the boys section in under 15 & under 13 age groups, both contesting the 60m & 200m.
In the under 15 age group Josh, who has been working on his running style was soon up to top speed over the shortest sprints to cross the line in the top placings matching his lifetime best.
Over the longer 200m his recent training proved valuable as he had caught the athletes on his outside as he flew down the back straight, as he entered the top bend prior to the final straight
he concentrated on remaining in front & held his running action well to record a victory in a new lifetime best.
Cody lined up in the 60m and was looking to test his new footwear which proved profitable with a very fast new best. In his first experience over 200m, a steady start was unusual for him, however a fine
injection of speed & effort in the home straight saw him sythe through the field to record a top placing and a new lifetime best to match his elder brother.

In the girls under 15 age group both Gaby Simpson & Abbie Learie represented GGH in the 60m & 200m respectively. In the shortest sprint Gaby concentrated on ensuring she was up to speed as soon as the gun went
running a very competitive second half of the race, recording her fastest 60m race ever.
Abbie tackled the longer sprint and stuck to her personal plan around the first bend before injecting pace on the back straight, in a very competitive heat she will be pleased with the experience of sprinting the entire lap of the track.
The young athletes will now look forward to additional indoor experiences over the coming weeks, building a speed foundation for the summer season with the expert help of their Greenock Glenpark coaches.
