Fast n’ Flat 4
Fast ‘N Flat is quickly becoming the must do race for 5km road racing. Set on West Lothian Cycle Circuit in Linlithgow, the track is home to two Scottish native best times over the distance. There were 6 races in total with entrants grouped according to predicted times. Overall winner Jamie Crowe won the fastest time of the evening in heat 1 of 14.08 while the fastest female time in heat 2 on the evening was run by Annabel Simpson, 16.12. However, Megan Keith, running in the men’s race, ran 15.12.
Dylan Crawford was running in heat 1 in such illustrious company, as both Crowe and Olympian, Keith. The race started at a manic pace with Dylan tucking into the back of the group.After running under 6mins for the first 2km a small group including Dylan fell off the back and with the heat kicking in Dylan started to feel the early pace in the legs and found it tough as the race progressed. On the last lap he found himself in a 3 way battle with athletes from Strathclyde Uni and Falkirk Victoria. As they rounded the final bend to hit the home straight Dylan but a late burst to win the mini race and come in with a time of 16:04.Jamie Crowe won the race with an unbelievable time of 14:08 after a bunch sprint finish.
Neil ran in heat 3 and started off strongly positioning himself in to the pack and keeping a high tempo. As he ticked off the laps Neil started to move through the field and coming into the final straight Neil produced a blistering full on effort to come across the line with a 15:36 PB.Another notable competitor in the same race was Harry McGill running with Glasgow Uni colours finishing the race 6th with a time of 15:12
Earlier in the day in heat 5, we seen another PB from John Hampsey finishing 15th with a time of 18:20 and in the same race see Greg Luke just missing out on a sub 20 min with a time of 20:06.Another notable competator in this race was Ruby McGill running for Glasgow Uni coming home just behind Greg in 20:07.
