Loch Leven Half Marathon
Sean Lyon announced his return to racing after an 18 month hiatus with a strong performance in the Loch Leven Half Marathon. Finishing in 7th place he clocked a time of 78.59.
3km On The Green
With a special announcement made to share that there was to be a route change for the upcoming, popular 3km lunchtime race, ever consistent, Malcolm MacLean found himself completing the course in 10.45 which was a timely course PB and equals his overall 3km PB.
Loch Thom Trail Race
On a windy Spring evening up the Cut at the Loch Thom Trail race, hosted by Inverclyde Athletics Club, now in its’ second year. This tough course that starts at the Visitors Centre and goes up the Stoney Road before dropping down to the Waterman’s Cottage before turning round and making the return journey. Add in the tough wind and a hard shift was guaranteed for the 14 Greenock Glenpark Harriers who made it to the start line.
Dylan Crawford was first home in a time of 26.08 with Shaun Lyon second in 26.49. Captain Stephen Harrison was 5th and 1st M50 in 31.04 with Eric Lindsay close behind in 7th place and 2nd M50. Greig Turner, 2nd M40, was next Harrier home and finished just inside the top 10 in 9th place in 33.35. Steven Smith, in a time of 35.50 was 14th. Martin McGonigal and Rebecca McCluckie finished separated by only 3 seconds in 28th and 29th places. Next Harrier home was Mhairi Biggart, in 44.44. Leslet McKerral returned to Harrier colours and finished in 45.28. Charlotte McKay, who seemingly races every week was first F70 home followed by Angela Devlin in 46.55.Two more of our wonderful Harrier ladies, Doris Heron, 2nd F60, and Sharon Doherty completed the Harrier contingent on the evening.
GGH also took 1st overall in the male team event and also 3rd overall in the ladies event.
