Roon the Toon 10km 8th June 2025
Greenock Glenpark Harriers were represented by 7 runners on Sunday 8th June 2025. The route takes you through Kilmarnock town centre and countryside over a flat and fast course. This year was the added carrot of it being the Scottish 10km championships which were won by Jamie Burns of Shettleston in 29.41, with Sean Chalmers of Aberdeen second in 29.49.
Neil Lafferty led the Harrier’s contingent home in 32.49 which was good enough to be earn 3rd V40 and a bronze medal on the day. He was closely followed by Dylan Crawford in 32.53. Another close race between these two athletes, who both recorded PBs on the day. Andy McCall was next to finish in 33.50, a great run after a busy period of racing, most often up and down hills. Paul Monaghan has been working hard in the background and his time of 33.50 saw him finish as 2nd V50 and another silver medal to add to the collection. Next to finish was Steven Campbell in 38.13. Gerry Gallacher continued his fine recent form with 45.41 and Sarah Jane Whalen completed the Harrier runners on the day with a super run of 55.42.
Huge congratulations to our men’s team of Neil, Dylan and Andy who were pipped to a team bronze medal by the smallest of margins. A great performance by all our athletes on the day.
En Avant.
