Glasgow Women’s 10km – Race Report from 15th June 2025
The city was alive with energy on Sunday as hundreds of women took to the streets for the Glasgow Women’s 10k. With dry skies, calm winds, and a warm summer atmosphere, conditions couldn’t have been better. The race began at the iconic Riverside Museum, with runners setting off along the Clyde before weaving through the vibrant heart of the Merchant City and finishing in the lush surroundings of Glasgow Green. The route offered a scenic mix of urban landmarks and crowd-lined streets, creating an unforgettable atmosphere.
The start line was buzzing, but among the sea of participants, it was easy to spot the familiar blue and yellow vests of the Glenpark Harriers runners. Despite the busy start, they delivered brilliant performances across the board. Terri Wall led the Harrier charge with an outstanding time of 51:21, placing 4th in her age category. Hot on her heels, and remarkably fresh off yesterday’s Scottish Athletics Hill Race, Heather Lafferty finished in 51:23 despite a delayed start caused by the ever-reliable portaloo queues. Kirsten Robin had a breakthrough run, smashing her PB and coming in well under the hour at 58:56. Lorna McMillan wasn’t far behind with a fantastic sub-hour finish of 59:49. June Rattray continued the streak of strong performances, finishing comfortably under 1:03. Lana Killeen kept a steady and focused pace throughout, crossing the line at 1:07:01, followed closely by Hanna Docherty in 1:07:59. Mary McCabe put in a determined run, finishing in 1:08:45. Mary Robinson and Sharon McNeil ran the race side-by-side with great spirit, with Mary just edging ahead in a sprint finish.
It was a day full of personal triumphs, strong finishes, and the kind of support and camaraderie that make Glenpark Harriers such a special club. Congratulations to everyone who ran — you all did yourselves proud on the streets of Glasgow!
