Trailspire Ultra – Saturday 7th February 2026
The Trailspire Ultra is a 6-hour endurance running event set in the stunning grounds of Callander Park, Falkirk. Formerly the Falkirk Ultra Trail Race, this reimagined challenge invites runners to push their limits on a scenic looped course featuring woodland trails, parkland paths, and the historic backdrop of Callander House. Runners can complete as many laps as possible within the 6-hour time limit, making the event suitable for first-timers looking for an accessible ultrarunning experience or seasoned runners chasing distance goals… or just anyone who loves the trails and a challenge!
Greenock Glenpark was represented by resident ultra expert Viki Smith, who smashed it out the (Callander) park, completing 14 laps in under six hours with her finishing time recorded at 5h52m31s putting her 4th in her category and 16th female runner from 95 overall – another outstanding run from Viki, who followed it up the following day by competing in the RAAA Road Race, a mere five miler to warm the legs up!
Ardgartan Trail Race – Saturday 7th February 2026
Ardgartan Trail Race takes place in the Ardgartan Forest Park, Argyll. The route is a mix of tarmac, forestry track and narrow trails, featuring waterfalls, huge uphills and steep downhills with the overall distance just short of 21 miles… and a punishing 3,333ft of ascent.
It was great to see Kev Craig back at it after a difficult few months for the Greenock runner. Not only did Kev complete the race, he took the course by the scruff of the neck and put in an outstanding performance for third place overall, agonisingly close to a sub three hour time with 3h00m35s but delighted to be back on the trails again.
Well done Viki and Kev!
