Glasgow Green Half Marathon 4th May 2025
Campbell McFarlane found himself on the start line of another half marathon in Glasgow Green. With all his experience of the undulation of the tarmac he still managed to take a couple of tumbles on his way round. In true Harriers fashion he got the job completed and then adjourned to the first aid tent for some TLC. Campbell completed the course in 1.57.44, securing another great age category result of 2nd V60.
Dick Wedlock Memorial 5 mile 4th May 2025

Millport ‘Fun’ Run 11th May 2025
Cheryl Thomas ramped up her preparation for her Spring Marathon attempt as she revisited Millport on a scorching hot Sunday. Millport is almost a perfect 10 mile loop so perfect for pacing and distance practice. Just a week after completing her long run with two loops Cheryl had a great run completing the 10 miles in 1.28. There are rumours that Cheryl is praying for a return to standard Scottish Spring weather in time for her marathon race day.

Black Rock 5 9th May 2025
A recurring favourite among the ranks of the Harriers, the Black Rock 5 is a unique road and beach race that took place at 7.45pm on Friday 9th May 2025 in Kinghorn, Fife in an area famous for its locality to the caravan park made famous by BBC’ s Life on the Bay. The race is approximately 7km and is timed to coincide with a sufficiently low tide to enable runners to pass behind the Black Rock which is about 1km offshore from Burntisland. It was two Harrier couples who made the journey on a warm Friday evening to the Kingdom of Fife. Stephen and Lynne Harrison and Malcolm and Lorna MacLean had great runs at a well organised and popular event.
Results
Stephen Harrison 30.51; Malcolm MacLean 32.45; Lynne Harrison 40.11; Lorna MacLean 59.01
Thornhill 10km 11th May 2025
William Taylor was clearly looking forward to his jaunt to Stirling yesterday as it was set to be a lovely weekend but ended up being far more progressive at parkrun than intended so maybe a 10km within 24 hourse was not to be his best idea but William is as resilient as they come and completed the race in 35th position in a time of 42.09, 6th in his age category. Fellow Harrier Rachael McDaid had by her own description the ‘worst run ever.’ Asthma caused her some problems but she powered through to the end and completed in the ‘flat’ course in 1.05.35.
Elijah Taylor finished 3rd boy in the 2.5km race in a great time of 10.07 while youngest Taylor ran with mum Rachel who completed the run together in 67th place.
Kintyre Way Ultra 10th May 2025
Four Harriers made their way to complete in the Kintyre Way Ultra. Kevin Craig competed in the solo event while Sharon, Black, Wenda and Graeme Crawford took part in Glenpark colours running under the team name Swim Safe Adventures. Kev finished another race just a couple of weeks after his Devil o’ the Highlands and another strong showing saw him finish in 7th place overall in a time of 5.59.05. Kev described the race as probably the hardest race he’s ever ran with brutal terrain going between open hillside, heather bashing, relentless climbs, beaches, tarmac and all this matched in with incredible sunshine. Our relay team found the going just as tough including some navigation issues and were delighted to finish the course in 9.50.38 with celebrations being a dip in the sea.
Cateran Trail 55 Mile Ultra
Lorna Mitchell travelled to the Spittal of Glenshee to take part in what she has claimed to be her hardest ever Ultra. Given that Lorna has a few Ultras under her belt then that is sure to be some claim. Lorna is building toward the WHW race early in the summer and used this as an extended training run in preparation for this incredible challenge. The 88km course was covered in just under 13 hours on an incredibly hot day on a gruelling course. Lorna has an incredible habit of getting things done and her dedication to training and mental toughness always shines through.
