Babcock Dumbarton 10km

Babcock Dumbarton 10km- 22nd May 2025

The second of the Babcock sponsored series of three races that take part on the other side of the Clyde took place last Thursday. These races are always popular with a strong Harriers representation in attendance. After last week’s race and the almighty timekeeping blunders that beset it there were fewer issues this time but still some issues with numbers and corresponding times that they will hopefully have ironed out for the final race in the series.

Leading the club home in 26th place, was Neil Lafferty in 34.42, using the race as part of his training block. Next across the line was Andrew Osborne, as he continues his comeback, finishing in 37.08, in 51st place. Next home was Donald Shaw, 38.21, Stephen Harrison, 39.21 and Colin McKnight 39.50, dipping under the 40 minutes with a strong finish.

David Thomson despite feeling under the weather made the trip from Stirling and finished in 42.47. Sean and Fiona McFarlane were next home with times of 44.32 and 47.34, both great runs on a warm evening in the sunshine. Natalie Smith continues to perform well over the shorter distances and finished just under the 50 minute mark by 35 seconds. Next home was ladies captain Lynne Harrison in 51.53. Following Lynne across the line was the incredible Charlotte McKay in 1.00.35, a 24 second PB, as she pushes toward a sub 60 minute 10km. Doris Heron finished in 1.02.36 and Sharon Doherty, continues her comeback finishing in 1.15.20. Alison Smart made a sensible choice with her asthma being unpredictable and got herself safely back to the start line in one piece.
