28th May 2026 – The event starts and finishes at Hermitage Academy, and takes place on quiet, well-marshalled roads; the fast and largely flat single-circuit course showcases the Victorian seaside resort of Helensburgh. The event warmly welcomes everyone from Olympians and serious club members to recreational runners so a good field of talent competed with the 13 Harriers heading across the water for the final race in this season’s Babcock 10k series.
Oliver Reilly was first home for the Greenock Team in the Senior Male category, his excellent 36:38 just 14 seconds ahead of M50 runner Steven Campbell, who’s time of 36:52 secured age category gold for the in-form runner. Third home was Owen Atkinson, fast coming back to fitness and very close to going under 40 minutes with 40:55. Colin McKnight was slightly disappointed with 41:17 but this was still a great performance on a difficult evening for racing. Another Harrier coming back to fitness is Aaron Fullerton, putting in a good shift to record 43:12; followed home by Gerry Gallacher in 44:42. Last home for the gents was David Roberts in 46:50.
For the ladies, Sarah Jane Whalen had a great run for 10th F50 in 55:40, showing her training is working out well for her. Charlotte McKay scooped yet another medal for third place V70 in 1:05:02. Doris Heron was another 10th place finisher in the V60 group with 1:06:38, and the ladies race was completed by Jay Dunning (1:09:01), Janice Lowles (1:12:38) and Alison Smart (1:17:02).
Well done to all runners completing the series this year!
