Twelve members represented the club at the West District League in Kilmarnock this weekend.
This was the first in a 3-event series of cross country races.
Winner of the Men’s Senior race was Jonathon Downey (26:34) representing Kilmarnock Harriers.
Winner of the Ladies’ Senior race was Anna Blake of Ayr Seaforth (32:44).
In the Under 13 girls race, Aimee McEleny had a great race to start off the day, finishing in a time of 12:37.
In the Under 17 girls race, Evie Harrison finished in 7th place. Erin McEleny finished two places behind in 9th.
The best result of the day for the club was second place behind Cambuslang for the Ladies Vets Team.
The team comprised Lynne Harrison, Marianne McKay and Sarah Jane Whalen.
There were 9 clubs competing.
In the Men’s race there was a fantastic head-to-head finish between Stephen Harrison and William Taylor.
Stephen was quite a bit ahead of William for most of the race, but William managed to pass Stephen on the line after a fabulous sprint finish.
Stephen, Danny McLaughlin and Frank McMahon secured 7th in their Vet’s race.
The next big day out is the West District Cross Country at Kirklandpark Playing Fields in Strathaven on Saturday 2nd December.
The next West District League is on Saturday 20th January at Bellahouston Park.
