Gryffe Valley 10km

As seems to be a common theme in these balmy spring days the Gryffe 10km race took place just up the road in Houston in positively tropical temperatures. Four Harriers made the short journey and had excellent runs on a day made for shuffling rather than racing on a hilly course.

First Harrier home was Donald Shaw in a fantastic 5th place in a great time of 40.13 for 4th male home and 1st V50. Next to cross the line was Lorna Mitchell, showing that she has a turn of speed to go with her ultra legs, in a time of 45.37 for 3rd overall female and also 1st V40. Next to finish was Jennifer Rooney, who continues to build her fitness, in another great time of 46.08. This was 4th female overall and it is good to see her go from strength to strength. Steven Smith has been consistently training over a number of months and his 47.47 was a strong run on a hot day and also 3rd V50 male on the day. Claire Leung had a great run and is putting her multi sport training to good use and had a fine run, dipping under 53 minutes, as she builds for the rest of the season.
