Sunday 12th July – A bright Sunday morning saw a group of Greenock Glenpark Harriers women take to the start line of the Glasgow Ladies 10k – arriving after plenty of lively discussion about travel plans and outfit choices. Despite being a small group, they brought no shortage of spirit to the Riverside Museum, where the race began under glorious sunshine.
The flat, fast course led runners along the River Clyde, past the Hydro and over the iconic Squiggly Bridge before funnelling them into the city centre. The surprise of weekend shoppers on Buchanan Street added an extra challenge as runners went through to the 5k mark. From there, the route wound its way through Glasgow Green, past the People’s Palace, and on toward a finish at the historic monument.
Terry Wall was the first GGH runner home in 53:08, followed closely by Jill Aikman in 53:29 and Suzanne Dunn in 56:16. Several members of the 2025 Absolute Beginners group also impressed, showing just how far they’ve progressed thanks to consistent weekly club and ladies’ sessions.
A huge congratulations to every GGH runner who took part – another proud day for the club and a brilliant showcase of teamwork, improvement, and determination.
