Penmaenmawr Fell Race – Sat 18th Nov
Liz Gemmell took part in her first fell race and what a race to pick for her first experience in the Welsh hills. It was the 48th running of the event making it one of the oldest races in Wales. Stunning views and warm weather greeted the runners but this lured them into a false sense of security, which can often happen in the hills. The clag rolled in and wind picked up during the race making conditions tougher for everyone including Liz. Competing for her first claim club, Knowsley Harriers AC, Liz smashed the 11 mile fell race in 2 hours 23 minutes and 9 seconds. That is very impressive for a first outing in the fells and with nearly 2,000ft of elevation, well done Liz and we hope to see you in the famous colours in some of the local hill races next season.
Acorn Trail – South by 5 race series, race 2, Linn Park- Sun 19th Nov
We had two Harriers take part in the popular trail races. The South by 5 series was introduced by Acorn Trails to replace the South Side 6 race and has proven to be a real success since it’s inception. Nathalie and Steven Smith, both no strangers to the Acorn Trail races, competed in the muddy trail race around Linn Park in the South Side of Glasgow. In terrible underfoot condition (or perfect depending on your point of view) Nathalie managed to continue her rich vein on form finishing in a course PB of 29:44 for the tough 5km route. Despite an injury Steven took part and finished in 36:04.

3k on the Green – Fri 24th Nov
Just in! It looks like 3 Harriers took part in the monthly 3k on the Green with Novembers race being the final instalment of the year.
Continuing his search for a 3k PB Oliver Reilly looks to have smashed his PB finishing 4th place in 9:45. Malcolm McLean looks to have bettered his first experience at the Best wee race in Scotland today taking 1 second off his time (TBC). William Taylor was giving his legs a final push before he takes on a 10km race on Sunday and will be delighted to finish only 10 seconds from his PB. A great sign of returning form after a virus.
Results below from Strava, official results to follow:
Oliver Reilly – 9:45
Malcolm McLean – 11:04
William Taylor – 11:16
