Scottish Athletics National 1500m Indoor Masters Championships
There was success for Greenock Glenpark Harriers at the Scottish Athletics National 1500m indoor masters championships on Sunday 2nd February 2025. Neil Lafferty and Jill Cox both returned from the Emirates Arena with 2nd place finishes, securing national silver medals to add to their collections. Neil and Jill have been part of the regular track sessions over the new year period and this speed work certainly paid off. In his indoor racing debut, Neil started sensibly, slotting into 2nd place. Steadily building his pace as the race progressed, Neil peaked in the final couple of laps, finishing clear in 2nd position within the v35/45 final, securing v45 silver with an impressive 4:21.61 In a competitive woman’s 1500m final, Jill had a great start settling comfortably into the front 3. This trio steadily distanced itself from the chasing field as the race developed. Jill showed her strength to maintain her fast pace throughout, earning a well deserved v45 silver medal in an excellent 5:02.31
