September Running Update

Glenmore 24 Hour Race | Saturday 6th September

  • Kyle Wilson, the club’s recently crowned Ultra Runner of the Year, was poised to break his personal 100-mile target at his first 24-hour race, the Glenmore 24. Unfortunately, due to high winds, the race was stopped early after just 14 hours. Despite the early finish, Kyle still managed to complete an impressive 84 miles and 21 loops, finishing a full 12 miles ahead of the next competitor. Another incredible performance and a decisive victory!

Parkrun Tourist completes all Scottish Events | Saturday 6th September

  • At Aberdeen Beach parkrun, Lorna Mitchell achieved the amazing goal of completing all current Scottish parkruns. There are 77 different locations around the country and it has taken Lorna six years to bag them all – she finished as 5th female in a time of 22:20. Well done Lorna!

Kilmacolm Running Festival | Sunday 7th September

  • 10k: In the shorter distance, Stephen Trainer continued his return to form with an excellent run of 33:39 to take 2nd place overall – Stephen has been training extremely well lately and looks to be another Harrier capable of pushing for the club championship in the new season. Oliver Reilly also continued his comeback from injury in 5th place, with 36:38. Eric Lindsay (4th v50 / 44:08), Lorna Mitchell (1st FV50 / 44:40) and Lana Killeen (19th FV40 / 1:08:29) were the other Glenpark representatives.
  • Half Marathon: Neil Lafferty had another excellent performance in the light blue shirt, coming home second (5th overall) in the Veteran category with a time of 1:15:12. A fine run from Andy McCall saw him finish 4th Senior (6th overall) in 1:15:54. Andrew Osborne (VM 11th / 1:25:51), John Stevenson (VM 14th / 1:30:30), Stephen Reid (VM 37th / 1:45:55) and Nathalie Smith (VF 15th / 1:49:45) completed the Harriers roster on the day Well done all!

Kenny Phillips 10 miles Cumbrae Road Race | Sunday 14th September

  • In a race which saw Scotland’s Callum Hawkins set a new Scottish 10 mile road record with 46:44, Shaun Lyon had a brilliant effort to finish in ninth place overall in a fantastic time of 58:28. In the ladies race, Lorna Mitchell finished 2nd in her age category with a great run of 1:13:22. Mhairi Biggart was the only other Harrier running and she went over the line in 29th Age Cat, 1:45:04.

Fast ‘N’ Flat 2025 | Saturday 13th September

  • Six Greenock men represented the club at this event with some blistering pb’s recorded, the event really living up to its name! Club Champion Dylan Crawford recorded his best time over the distance, going well under the 16 minute barrier in (15:21pb) in race 1. He was closely followed by Stephen Trainer in race three, also going sub 16 with a brilliant (15:37). The rest of the Greenock turnout came in Race 4, with Lewis Khan (16:44pb), John Hampsey (17:36pb), Duncan Anderson (18:05) and William Taylor (19:33) rounding off a great day’s running.
