September Weekend 10 ks

Ormsary 10km

So at the crack of dawn on Saturday 28th September  3 Lafferty Greenock Glenpark Harriers set off from their wee butt and ben at Strathlachlan for Crinan canal parkrun. This was only the 5th Parkrun held in this new location. It was a bit out the way but promised a flat out and back with lovely views out over Loch Crinan.

Neil Lafferty was 1st finisher in 16:20. Daughter Isabel in her new 11-14 age category, ran a fantastic 26:19 and was 3rd female and mum Heather finished a little after in 26:32.

After a quick pit stop and a short drive to Ormsary Estate the family gathered for the inaugural Ormsary 10k, previously the location of Tin Farm 5 mile. This was a mixed terrain ,very hilly 10km round the Ormsary estate with beautiful views out towards the Sound of Jura as a reward for the punishing climbs!

Neil once again finished in first place in a time of 38:12. Finishing first has its benefits with quite a lovely haul of prizes. Heather finished in a fantastic time of 55:05 which she was delighted with given the elevation of the course.

This race which plans to be an annual event is yet another small , friendly, well organised event which comes highly recommended by the intrepid Lafferty family, notwithstanding the superb goody bags and very welcome post- race soup.

Linlithgow 10km

The WJM Linlithgow 10K is a prestigious and long-running community road running event around the picturesque and historic town, organised by Linlithgow Athletic Club. Established in 1992, the race includes a junior fun run and is held under licence from Scottish Athletics.

Two Harriers toed the line among the 843 runners. Andy Blair(bib 2) and Alan Munro(bib 424) both had excellent runs on the day with Andy coming in with 39.48 and Alan coming home in 48.31. Two excellent runs on an undulating and narrow course round Linlithgow Loch.
