Transgrancanaria Marathon

As we all know, Viki’s no shrinking violet!

When most would be lying on the beach soaking up the sun, oor Viki’s up the mountains racing.

This time it was a 29 mile killer of a marathon.

Starting from Tejeda in the mountain range in Gran Canaria, with an initial ascent to the iconic Roque Nublo, the race then continues with a dizzying and technical descent that passes through impressive sections like the La Plata trail.

The descent is interrupted by the aid stations of Tunte and Ayagaures, which all serve as a prelude to two more arduous climbs before a gradual slope down to the finish in Maspalomas.

In Vicki’s words :

Organisation was on point from The North Face; from collecting my number at the Expo to the bus ride up the mountains.

The experience was a wee bit daunting when I spotted all the running poles!

The volunteers at checkpoints were so helpful.
It was very hilly, hot and crazy terrain, but the scenery was to die for.
I’m happy how my race went after spending a few weeks with a weird cold/cough that lingered way too long!!
Yep, I will defo be going back.
100% recommend to my running friends!
