Wilson Trophy Junior Championship Races
Towerhill 16th March 2025
It was perfect conditions for the final cross-country race of the season for the young Glenpark athletes competing at Towerhill.
The 1 mile race was contested over 2 laps of a twisting hilly course, which included a long steep climb which was to test the youngsters strength as well as endurance.
In impressive form was Elijah Taylor who attacked from the start making an early break from the rest of the pack, which he was able to maintain to the finish. Not too far off the pace were James Mooney and Oscar Docherty who were having a close tussle throughout for the runners-up spot with James just getting the better of Oscar. Immediately behind them with a fantastic run was Gabriella Hamill, who led home Leia Killeen and Fearne Hampsey.
Isaac Robin’s speedy return to fitness was rewarded with a notable win in the 2 mile race, over Harry Mooney, and his twin Jacob. He made the steep climbs on each of the 4 laps look effortless, as did Nuala Quigley, just a short distance behind, as she continues her recent run of good-form.
Orla Trainer took maximum points in the u13 girls race, but she had to dig deep to hold off Isabel Lafferty who was closing her down in the latter stages, with Mila Killeen taking 3rd place.
