Witchwood 24 Run

Everton Scout Camp, Saturday 16th Sunday 17th May 2026

Something wicked this way came on the weekend of 16th May 2026, the inaugural Witchwood Run. The run takes place over 24 hours, starting at 10am on the Saturday morning with participants pushing their limits to complete as many laps as possible solo or as part of a duo team over a full 24-hour period through daylight and darkness, as much you can do or as little as you want to. The event is centred around a very challenging 5.9k / 3.7m loop featuring 185m elevation that varies from winding single-track through woodland to open, muddy moorland paths and forestry tracks The race also features a fantastic, festival atmosphere with camping, food, drink and live music to keep runners entertained throughout the weekend.

Runners could go solo or as part of a pairs team – unfortunately, a misunderstanding with the pairs system meant only one runner counted in the official results, but participants did receive the correct medal for their effort. The organisers assured everyone this will be ironed out for next year as in practice – teams should have gone out in relay format, rather being allowed to run at the same time. Because laps were not added together at the end, the online results aren’t searchable by club, and laps don’t tally if runners entered as a pair, we’ll try and get the correct distances in this report but let us know if you’ve been been missed or your lap count is incorrect!

The weather was perfect as the first waves of runners headed out into the hills but the forecast was grim for the later part of the day, so many runners opted to go long throughout the morning. It’s great to see something like this taking place locally and there was a good Harriers turnout to support the event, both running and volunteering (we understand race directors Scott and Adam are now signed up to the club!).
